HMHY Expanded Services Help More

2021 was a difficult year for most with some more impacted by the ongoing pandemic than others. Through these challenges, Help Me Help You (HMHY) helped more by adding new services and expanding existing ones. HMHY programs provided life-saving services to more than 50,000 residents in need. This is more than double the number of residents served in previous years.

HOW WE'VE HELPED MORE IN 2021

Four New School Food Pantries were launched in the Long Beach areas needing it most. HMHY now offers a total of 10 food pantries (6 school and 4 community locations) providing free nutritious groceries and community service information to more than 48,500 residents in need. In a response to our clients requests, we were able to open a Saturday, school food pantry location at Perry Lindsey Academy every third Satruday of the month.

Long Beach Food Pantry Delivery service commenced to provide free fresh and packaged groceries with recipes home-delivered every week to over 500 seniors in need

Benefits Access Support: commenced social security claims enrollment service to residents nationwide. Our multi-lingual (english and spanish speaking) benefits experts maintain an industry high 80% success rate of all claims submitted vs less than 40% success rate of those that file independently. In 2021, resulted in 100% growth and over 350 claims awarded.

CalFresh: our benefits advocates provided free enrollment assistance and updates to more than 500 new clients to receive CalFresh payments to purchase groceries at participating stores and farmers markets. General Relief: free enrollment assistance was provided to all in need, with a growth of 170% in successful enrollments.

Medi-Cal: free enrollment assistance resulted in an increase of 140% successful enrollments

Nutrition Knights Healthy Habits school program was launched in 5 particpating Long Beach schools to provide awareness for elementary school children on healthy eating and living habits. More than 16,500 children received our free nutritious groceries and gifts.


Turkey Giveway: free thanksgving turkeys, roast beef and groceries were provided to all those in need to celebrate the holiday season.

Unite Us Partnership: Help Me Help You partnered with a national leading care coordination platform connecting healthcare and social service providers to measure the impact of services to improve health outcomes for individuals and the community.
