To combat the escalating levels of hunger among our seniors, Help Me Help You (HMHY) established Long Beach Food Pantry Delivery to provide FREE nutritious groceries home-delivered weekly to seniors in need. Long Beach Food Pantry Delivery currently services 500 eligible senior residents each week and we need your support to continue offering these life-saving services.

 

THE  SOLUTION TO THE GROWING SENIOR HUNGER CRISIS IN LONG BEACH, CA:

More than 14% of seniors over age 65 live below the poverty line in Long Beach, California and this is expected to grow to 22% by 2025 (Community Health Bureau). HMHY provides free groceries for Long Beach residents in need via 10 food pantry locations (6 schools and 4 community locations). With the demand for food pantries tripling over the last few years, it became apparent there is a growing necessity for a food pantry to deliver to senior residents who are unable to access HMHY Food Pantry locations.  Eligible senior residents receive free fresh and packaged groceries, catering to special diets and cultural food preferences, as well as recipes and information on essential services.

For one, 78-year-old Long Beach widowed resident, this service could not be more welcome. “I would take 3 different buses and walk over an hour to get my groceries from a food pantry until I became too weak to make the trip. Thank God for HMHY, who kindly deliver my food pantry selection of groceries to my door. I don’t know how I would survive without them”, said Thelma, Long Beach Food Pantry Delivery client.
